The Pemba sunbird female is nondescript, with a duller plumage compared
to the male, which is iridescent green and black. She has a gray-brown
upper body and a pale yellow underbody with blurry streaking. A distinct
white super cilium (eyebrow) is also present. Male is iridescent green above
and dark below, with a purple band across the breast. Restricted to the
island of Pemba, where it is common in all habitats. Similar to Tsavo and
Violet-breasted Sunbirds, but separated by range.
